The first D-Line cable car in Russia will be built in Sochi at the Rosa Khutor resort for the winter season 2019-2020.
The Austrian company Doppelmayr plans to build and put into operation the cable car of the new generation D-Line in Sochi at the Rosa Khutor resort for the winter season 2019-2020.
The cable car will be built on the southern slope of the Aibga ridge and will stretch to the height of 2.2 thousand meters above sea level. Elevation difference will be 600 meters. The length of the cable car is 2 thousand meters, it will run parallel to the existing "Edelweiss".
According to representatives of Doppelmayr Russia, about 100 specialists will build the cableway, most of whom are Russians who have been trained in the Austrian office of the company. The new D-Line model range is maximally adapted for both urban and mountain-tourism projects. It has improved chairs, roller balancers, detachable clamps, design, and functionality in general. D-Line cableways are easy to maintain.
More than 1 billion rubles will be invested in the construction of a new cableway. Cable cars of this type are now also being built by Doppelmayr in China for the 2020 Winter Olympics. Rosa Khutor is a mountain resort in the village of Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. The length of the tracks is more than 100 km. Five years in a row - since 2013 - the resort is recognized as the best ski resort in Russia according to the World Ski Awards.
