Meribel has again been working hard to improve it’s ski area for this coming season. No sooner did the lifts close on last season when work began on some big projects to make sure that they will be ready for the 2017/18 season.
New Roc de Tougne Chairlift
The old double drag lift, loved by expert skiers looking for quiet slopes but hated by everyone else, has been replaced by a new, fast loading, 6 seater chairlift. This will make a big difference to how people move around the valleys. Tougnette 2 will no longer be the only main route to St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, The Roc de Tougne chairlift will give red run skiers a fast route with more interesting skiing than the current road run. Also the Bartavelle and Lagopede pistes, some of the best and most reliable for good snow in the area, will be much more accessible.

Lac de la Chambre piste - An easy route back from Val Thorens
Retain the much-loved piste but improve the two most challenging sections – this is the aim of the team working on the Lac de la Chambre piste for next winter. A main junction between Val Thorens – Les Menuires and Meribel Mottaret, the original red run will be reclassified as a blue after steeper sections are reshaped, making it more accessible. The developments will open up a whole new area for intermediates to explore as well as offering an easier return journey from Val Thorens.
A new covered magic carpet lift at le Rond-Point
At Méribel’s Rond-Point area, a new Easy Rider zone has been created. The previous Loupiots magic carpet has been replaced by a modern, covered one. It will allow beginners and families to practice skiing on a very gentle slope.
DC Area 43 - New layout for Turn&Run
The Turn&Run is the play zone of the DC AREA 43 designed for skiers who want a gentle introduction to freestyle. Opened last winter, it will see new additions this year. To make it even more fun, new modules have been installed throughout the area: a “snail” and snow bridge, mini-kickers and short, wide boxes etc. Beginners, intermediates or pros will all find something to amuse them in the Turn&Run!
4-hour 3 Vallees Skipass
To offer you a more flexible way to ski the 3 Vallées, we have introduced a 4-hour pass which will replace the previous morning and afternoon passes, so it’s up to you to decide how and when you want to explore. Thanks to the ultra-speedy lifts and easy connections, you’ll have more freedom than ever to make the most of your 4 hours on the slopes.
